Our family business has been built brick by brick over the past 66 years, with three generations dedicating their energy, knowledge, and passion to agriculture and the seed business.
Today, Tuniche Seed Services specializes in high-standard seed production and research services for row crops and vegetable seeds, with operations in Chile, Peru, and Mexico.
Our day-to-day activities are guided by long-standing family values: integrity, innovation, and commitment, together with sustainability, critical thinking, and open communication. These principles are the cornerstones of what we call the Tuniche Style.
We are especially proud of our team of approximately 180 full-time employees across our operations. Their commitment is to understand each customer’s needs, take ownership of every project, and deliver reliable, high-quality service.

Tuniche Seed Services (TSS) was founded in 1993 by Víctor C. Álamos, building upon a family tradition in agriculture and seeds that dates back to the 1960s.
The story began with Alfredo Álamos, a dairy farmer and businessman from southern Chile, who acquired the family farm in Graneros. His entrepreneurial vision, support, and spirit of innovation helped create the foundation for the family’s early involvement in the seed business.
His son, Víctor M. Álamos, a prominent plant breeder, dedicated much of his professional life to corn genetics. He became well known for his work in the genetic improvement of Chilean choclo corn and for introducing single-cross hybrids to the Chilean market in the mid-1970s.
His passion for plant breeding brought the family fully into the seed industry, with the goal of providing farmers with higher-quality genetics while incorporating advanced technologies from around the world.
In the early 1990s, Víctor C. Álamos, representing the third generation, joined the family business after gaining experience in finance, logistics, and operations within larger agribusiness companies.
In 1993, he founded Tuniche Seed Services, with a clear international orientation and a vision of becoming a reliable seed production partner for leading seed companies around the world.
From the beginning, TSS has focused on providing customers with high-quality seed production, reliable delivery, flexibility, and competitive costs.
By providing dependable production capacity across different crops, locations, and production windows, Tuniche helps customers manage inventories, secure the supply of strategic products, and provide alternative production capacity when needed.
Initially, TSS was primarily dedicated to corn seed production.
Over the following decades, the company progressively expanded its production capabilities and developed expertise in soybean, canola, sunflower, and a broad range of vegetable seed crops.
Today, TSS combines infrastructure, technology, agricultural expertise, and an experienced professional team to grow, condition, manage, and export seed production across approximately 4,000 hectares.
This combination of scale, specialization, and flexibility allows Tuniche to manage projects ranging from large commercial seed production to highly specialized small-scale programs.
In 2000, Tuniche established its Research Services Division to support seed companies in their breeding, research, development, and regulatory programs.
Today, these services are provided through three strategic locations:
Arica, Chile
Graneros, Chile
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Together, these operations provide approximately 200 hectares of capacity for nursery programs, specialized breeding activities, pre-basic seed production, regulatory projects, and other customized research programs.
Our objective is to become an extension of our customers’ research teams, providing flexibility, confidentiality, technical expertise, and reliable execution.
Tuniche entered the vegetable seed production business in 2007, initially developing specialized expertise in sweet corn seed production for customers in the United States, Europe, and the Far East.
In 2018, Tuniche significantly expanded its vegetable seed activities through its subsidiary Semillas ALTUE, a company exclusively dedicated to vegetable seed production.
Through Semillas ALTUE, the company developed a broad portfolio of vegetable seed crops, including brassicas, cucurbits, solanaceous crops, carrots, lettuce, bunching onions, and other specialized vegetable species.
Production is carried out in open fields as well as in cages and net houses across strategic production areas in:
Graneros, Chile
Talca, Chile
Motupe, Peru
This specialized structure, combined with geographic and climatic diversity, allows us to select the most suitable production environment for each crop and project, while providing customers with different production and harvest windows.
Tuniche continuously explores new production areas, technologies, and agricultural techniques in Chile and throughout Latin America.
Our objective is to provide our customers with high performance, geographic diversification, alternative production and harvest windows, and greater security of supply.
Over more than three decades, Tuniche Seed Services has developed a broad international network of customers, partners, and industry relationships throughout North America, Europe, the Far East, and South America.
